We investigate classroom practices, teaching approaches, assessment methods, and learner engagement across school, tertiary, and vocational education contexts.
Teacher Education and Professional Practice
Our research explores teacher development, professional learning, assessment literacy, reflective practice, and practitioner-led inquiry to strengthen teaching quality.
Language, Literacy, and Multilingual Education
LFSER conducts research on language education, literacy development, multilingual contexts, and equitable access to learning opportunities.
Educational Equity and Social Inclusion
We examine issues related to access, participation, and outcomes in education, with attention to rural–urban disparities, socioeconomic factors, gender, and vulnerable populations.
Education Policy, Monitoring, and Evaluation

Our Research Approach
LFSER employs a range of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches, including classroom-based research, intervention studies, needs assessments, and longitudinal studies. All research is conducted in accordance with ethical standards, transparency, and academic integrity. Through its research, LFSER seeks to strengthen the evidence base for educational and social development and to contribute Sri Lanka-focused scholarship to national, regional, and international discussions.

Respect for Participants
LFSER ensures that all research participants are treated with dignity and respect. Participation in research is voluntary, based on informed consent, and free from coercion or undue influence.

Research activities are designed to minimize potential physical, psychological, social, or professional harm. Particular care is taken when research involves children, teachers, vulnerable populations, or marginalized groups.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
LFSER is committed to safeguarding the privacy of participants. Personal data are collected only when necessary, stored securely, and used solely for legitimate research purposes. Findings are reported in ways that protect anonymity and confidentiality.
